Time Capsule Setup

I have the TC set up to be used with a MacBook Pro through Time Machine. I get the error "Time Machine Error. Unable to complete backup. An error occured while creating the backup directory." I am connected through an ethernet cable with wireless completely turned off. I have tried resetting and restoring the TC with no luck. I've tried to read other threads on this topic but no solutions have worked thus far, seems to be a common issue though without a common solution. Ideas?

make sure you are plugged in and that your mb doesnt go to sleep by adjusting the energy saver settings.
