So I'm fast approaching the need to constantly back-up my MBP's data.

My question is:

Is there any real advantage to having a Time Capsule as opposed to throwing an external Hard Drive on an AirPort Extreme?

Also, can you use a Time Machine back-up hard drive as an external storage device simultaneously? I'm talking like backing up and throwing the too-large-for-normal-consumption .NEF raw nikon d40 files on a single drive.

Thanks in advance!!!

Its been discussed already that getting an AEBS and an external hard drive would be much cheaper than getting the 1TB TC.

The 1.5TB Seagate drives are dirt cheap nowadays (saw them at Fry's the other day). I'm sporting a new AEBS with a 500GB hard drive enclosure hooked up to the router and it works nice.
