Hello all,

I have the following scenario. Recently i gave up my pc for my MacbookPro. On my mac i have a 320 gb hdd which is insufficient for me. I am thinking buying a 2 TB TimeCapsule.

Can i use my time capsule as an external hdd ?

Can i acces data on my time capsule if i am not at home ?

A Time Capsule is essentially designed as a backup device, but yes you can use it as an external HDD if you so wish...Maybe a better bet would be to consider A Raid solution?

I have a 3TB Time Capsule which is used solely for backing up my 3 macs...AN iMac, MBP and MBA. Once set up, the process is automatic and is performed on a schedule you define. I have other external storage for archiving and storage leaving the TC to look after my backups.

I want to use it both for back-ups and as a hard disk. Because i travel a lot i need also to have acces to my stuff from all over the internet. I thinks this is possible with NAS or something like this.

Something like a ReadyNAS from Netgear makes it pretty easy. The support network for their devices is fantastic (Netgear purchased Infrant a couple of years ago and kept most of the team intact).

ReadyNAS Ultra 4 or ReadyNAS Duo. Both support Time Machine and can be relatively easily set up for remote access.
