    Hi,

I was thinking about getting a Time Capsule but had a quick question. Can I specify precisely what files get backed up?

I don't want to backup my entire system (like movies etc). Is there somewhere in Time Capsule setup to set preferences for what gets backed up?

    Thanks for your help.

With Time Machine, no, but if you use app like Carbon Copy Cloner you can select what you want to backup. Dunno how it works with Time Capsule though, but it should

I'm using a time capsule w/ time machine for my wife's macbook air, and due to the wireless connection and the fact that no real data is stored in it I have excluded the WinXP VM from the backup.

That being said, I have heard some horror stories of time machine restores not working so I am going to start looking at alternatives.
