With the new features of the iPad Pro ( such as Pencil support) and the fact that the iPad Air 2 was not replaced this Fall, are there any indicators that maybe a new iPad will come out sooner than next Fall to bring the new features to the iPad and possibly Mini sooner than the Fall?

No indicators nor rumors so far, at least from several tech sites I frequently go to.

I think its next fall just Apple realizing not much point in updating each device every year.

I have a feeling we may see an iPad Air update next year, but no mini or Pro. Actually I'd guess definitely no mini update, and wouldn't be surprised if no Pro. Maybe they'll start to stagger these updates a bit. I mean, picking up and using an Air 2 right now, it feels like an incredible device. Only so much you can really keep pushing for each year.

I would think we'd possibly get a new ipad Air in the spring and an updated Pro in the fall. I cant see them going full a full 2 years without updating their most popular iPad.

They moved pretty much their entire product line to Fall releases since 2011-2012ish. I think that is more profitable for them (when people are buying stuff for others and themselves, wallets out, cash in hand). Who would ask for a 6-8 month old iPad for Christmas? Well, obviously a lot of people would but the glamour will have worn off for many.

I feel they will continue that trend.

However MacRumors has a very useful Buyers Guide, if nothing else the days past since last releases in interesting information.

I hope Apple will update the iPad Air in the first half of the year. They've already had too many products in the second half so it makes sense to update the Apple Watch, Macbooks and iPad Air in the first half.

I doubt we'll see anything new for a while, though apple's success or failure of the iPad Pro may impact any roll out schedule, that is if the IPP is wildly popular, then we may see a new iPad with those features sooner then later. If its not selling as well, then maybe not.

They didn't update the mini for two years besides adding Touch ID. iPad Mini 3 was essentially the Mini 2, but with Touch ID.

Additionally, Apple went away with the Spring launch for iPads once they introduced iPad 3 and iPad 4 in the same year. They brought the 4 to the Fall to be in line with iOS.

Why would it have to come sooner? The iPad Air 2 is hardly "behind". The Mini 4 just caught up to it.

The mini has always been a niche seller though. The Air is their biggest seller by a huge margin. Having several different models gives them the flexibility to have product launches at multiple times per year. There is no benefit to them to load all of their product launches into a couple months in the fall.

They may take their time with an Air 3 :p I was going to buy a Pro until I watched a few reviews and saw the pricing for the LTE, turns out I am happy at 9.7inch, as I use my iPad 4 take notes in meetings, so what did I do? Spend the money on a PS4 1TB plus PlayStation TV and PS Camera, so I am now prepared to wait and save up for an Air 3 128GB LTE :D

They may bring it next Spring (I'm in South Africa, so that's next September). :p

I think appple will hold out on the new air, so that the IPP is the top dog spec wise.

Yep, I'm waiting too. There were a few things with the Air 2 that bothered me so I'm hoping they rectify them and slightly beef up the Air 3. If so, I'm on board. I agree on the pro and how it sucked that the only LTE model is the highest end one. Lame. way too close to the price of f full blown laptop. Can't do it.

I did not realise there was no 32 LTE, okay this is a really lame move by Apple. For a pro device that is 32Gb you would fall back on iCloud.....

Really pisses me off that these days they are moving towards profit, and not giving the customer the device they need, unless they pay for the top model, like the new iMac ...

iPad Air 3 will come next year. October/November 2016

Here's what i think will happen

Chip: A9X
RAM: 3GB
Camera: iPhone 6 camera

The iPad Air 2 basically got the camera of iPhone 5s. So It's possible that the iPad Air 3 will get the camera of the iPhone 6. 8-megapixel rear camera and a 2.1-megapixel front camera. This new camera will bring Focus Pixels technology, Auto image stabilization (but no Optical image stabilization), an improved ƒ/2.2 aperture, 1080p video at 60fps and Slo-mo video at 240fps etc. Or maybe Apple will keep them unchanged but I doubt it since they'll be updating the iPad Air 3 after two whole years.
