Hey everyone I am currently using my 2006 Macbook, I got the model in December 2006 and it runs at the moment. However, my mac has an inflated battery and cracks here and there. But it still works and I used it mainly to surf the web and do Uni assignments and word processing, i am wondering is it time for an upgrade? I am in my second year of University and will another year and half after this year. Is it worth upgrading now, considering the machine i have currently?

I would now but probably not 20 years ago when I was broke and in college. If it worked and was safe I was keeping it as long as possible no matter what it looked like rather than accumulate debt.

If the battery itself is bulging, replace it. < $25 on eBay.

If it still does what you need it to do to your satisfaction, then there's no reason to spend more money than you need to on a newer machine; like the previous poster said, pop a new battery in it for a fraction of the price and keep going.
