Imac was having issues not booting. I tried using lion recovery before finaly having to do a complete reinstall. All my back ups from time machine were always saved on my external hard drive. Once i comleted the clean install, i went into time machine and nothing is there. I never erased the external , only the internal. HELP!!! My external has a 500g partition and that were time machine back ups where being stored. Is there any way to restore my iphoto and itunes from there?

Then use Finder > external HDD with TM backup > folder called Backups.backupdb to manually drag the items onto your internal HDD or use the guides I linked to to migrate data off from a TM backup.
