I need help. I realize that this has been talked about, but when I search the forums it is very difficult to track down the thread that has the information. I upgraded to the new software tha is supposed to allow backups through a USB drive connected to AEBS. I also upgraded the firmware. My time machine will not recognize the my airport disk. It is an Iomega disk. Its a pretty big company. Please help, or direct me to the thread which has the information.

What format is the drive? If you click on it in Disk Utility (Applications -> Utilities), it should say 'Mac OS Extended (Journaled)'. If it says FAT32, NTFS or anything else you'll have to erase it. Even if it is, it might be worth erasing it anyway. Obviously, back up the stuff on it first!

I checked the hard drive and it is Mac OS Extended, no journaled after it. I am backing up the disk now and will reformat with Mac OS Extended (Journaled). I'll let you know.

    Thanks

I believe it has to be formated to use GUID partition table, Mac OS extended (Journaled)
