Time Machine and External Hard Drive Problems

I have been using my MBP + 500GB Seagate on an Airport Extreme. It works flawlessly for a few days, until I out my MBP to sleep, or turn it off. Then it gives me an error code -6580 and I have to go and delete everything and start with a fresh partition. This has happened 5 times now and it is driving me crazy 😡

Has anyone got this working on an external hard drive over an airport extreme?
 
Time Machine still does not support air-disk, until it does I think you will be out of luck. I really irritates me that we can not use air-disk.
