Time Machine backup deletion issues

So like the genius I am, when i upgraded to Snow Leopard, I wanted to make some room on my 1TB for new back ups. I simply dragged a years worth of backups into my trash. Big time goof.

Now I can't delete my trash right because all the back ups are stuck in there. Is there anyway I can fix this mistake?

Try "Secure Empty Trash" under the File menu in Finder.
