I've searched for solutions all over the place, so you are my last hope! I have an iMac running Snow Leopard and had been successfully using Time Machine backing up my internal drive onto an external drive. Then because of a problem with a recent Apple update, I got a kernal panic, and after erasing the internal drive and reverting to a recent Time Machine backup, Time Machine is not able to complete a full backup.
I found the Pondini site and downloaded the dashboard widget. Below is the information I get after the backup fails:
