I'm tryin to backup my computer using flock but its moving very slow.. I want to reformat my external before I start backing up again also. Can some1 let me know what would be the proper way to format my drive and how to fix the slowness problem?

See http://www.macworld.com/article/132140/www.idgconnect.com for details. If you have an Intel machine, use the GUID Partition Map Scheme. For a PPC machine, use Apple Partition Map (APM). Then format to Mac OS Extended (Journaled), also known as HFS+. MBR partition will cause problems and should not be used for Time Machine.
