Why are my applications not being backed up on TimeMachine MiniMac OS V10.10
From the attached screenshot from within Time Machine, you can see that there are no applications backed up from HD, furthermore the very first folder with date reference, when expanded contains another HD with the very same information as the first one.
Thanks for reply.

If you are trying to restore an application from a time machine backup, open Finder and click on Applications, then click on enter Time Machine. Or use Migration Assistant.

Bingo! niteflyr that solved my problem, and I am grateful for your help.
Would you mind going back to my screen shot, and try and explain why I have two HD backups, one a sub-folder of the main one.

You have many Macintosh HD backups, not just two. You can only see the name on the first two windows, but that's actually a stack of windows stretching back in time. You can use the timeline on the right to navigate back in time to different windows in the past.

Sorry for my inadequate description. When I go to the HD icon, on my computer not Time Machine, and open up the second column, at the top of this column is a date referenced folder, and when I click on that another HD icon appears. I will try an upload of screenshot.

That sounds logical, because I was saving documents to an external HD,so can I delete this HD sub folder?
