OK, long story short How do I retrieve Photos(Iphoto) and songs(Itunes) from my moms laptop that I backed up in time machine(on a portable HD)? She sold her lap top and so I backed up her hard drive and then nuked the HD. She bought a new PC (shame on her I say) and now I am trying to get just her pics and music off the portable hard drive to put onto her new laptop, but I cannot open iphoto on the portable HD through my mac. I have Snow Leopard and she had Leopard but that shouldn't matter?? I just wanna transfer her pics and music onto her new PC

When I open the Portable HD through my mac I can see everything but when I click on the backed up Iphoto it says I can't open it because it is a time machine back up.......can some one please help me and my moms.....

    Thanks in advance

Tell your mom to return the PC and get a real computer -->:)apple:).:)

On the time machine archive, right click and choose show package contents. Then go into what are mostly familiar files and get whatever you want off of it.

For iphoto files, it might be easier to create a new library in your copy of iPhoto, import all of her photos into it, then export all photos from that library into a folder, which then can be moved to the Windows PC. Afterwards, you could kill that copy of the iphoto library and switch back to your own.
