got my time machine running on a drive that's 99% full
got a new drive- all clean - MUCH larger...etc

when i go to change time machine over- it won't keep the old stuff
i've tried dragging & dropping the old stuff into the new drive- won't work

    any ideas?
i'm sure someone's gonna tell me "just not possible"
    which stinks

    but- i wanna make sure

    running
10.5.1 - but i'll do the updates if it makes a difference
    mac pro 2.66 - Rev A

    thanks!

Off the top of my head, I dont think you can, as Time machine needs to know that the drive its writing to, and its current TM status.

Doesnt really matter anyway. Once you select the new drive, and TM backs up to it (the first full back up) your basically copied over the other TM backup anyway.

right but then i cannot access any of the older stuff --

    and/or
i need to keep the older drive plugged into the machine
i want to use the older drive for other things-

and just have the one drive as my only TM drive

Ok, think something is getting a little lost in translation. :D
    Define "old stuff"?
Judging by the original post, it seems to be data from the nearly full drive?
