Time Machine Disk Size

Hey there,

I have a 3 TB drive and want to backup it to a 2 TB drive using Time Machine by excluding some large folders that don't need to be backuped on the 3 TB drive to reduce the overall backup size.

Is this possible? Will Time Machine only look at the overall capacity of the two disks, which won't match, or take the actual amount of data to backup into accounting?

Yes, that will work. It compares the size of actual selected (or, not excluded) content.
