Time Machine Error

"Unable to complete backup. An error occurred while copying files to the backup volume."

I have tried a few times now, repaired drive permissions reformatted external partition..
Any ideas?

Boot from your Leopard DVD and run disk utility on your main drive. Maybe your hard disk itself is screwed up - either the one in your computer or your external.
