Time Machine HD not showing on Desktop

This seems to be something new under OS26? It always used to show up. It wasn’t in the finder either. It did show up in Disk Utility though. I then noticed it was greyed out. Once I highlighted it and clicked on mount it turned black and appeared on the desktop and also in the finder.
I wonder if it will stay there now … 😆

Make sure that in Finder > Settings > Hard disks have a checkmark.

I tried that and it made no difference. I looked online and tried all the suggestions I could see and nothing worked until I highlighted and mounted it in Disk Utility.
