Before I erased my drive on my 2018 MacBook Pro, I did a Time Machine backup… the first I’ve done since 2022. I looked and it said last backup January 27 2025, so I’m good, right?… erase… I cannot locate that backup anywhere. The latest i can see is the 2022 backup, which macos15 refuses to use. What happened to the backup I performed the other day?? Used a WD MYCLOUD Home external. Devastated.

Oof. I don't know what's causing the problem, but maybe some more info would help clear up what the situation is.

What version of macOS did the Jan 2025 backup? Do you know if the TM backup disk is formatted HFS+ (aka macOS Extended, Journaled) or APFS?

Used a WD MYCLOUD Home external.
Is this a a device that connects to your local network, and Time Machine does its backup over the network, or is it directly-attached to the Mac (via, for example, USB or Thunderbolt)?

I cannot locate that backup anywhere. The latest i can see is the 2022 backup, which macos15 refuses to use.
How are you looking at/looking for the backup drive (and not seeing the 2025 backup) --
Booted from Recovery? (Could be an older version of macOS that can't "see" APFS volumes)
From within the macOS (Sequoia?) installer?
Over the network or directly-attached?
From a different Mac? (Try this if you can. You won't be able to see it with a Windows computer, though.)

With luck maybe the backup is still there...
