I have been trying to backup my computer for the longest time. It has been stuck on (53.4MB of 62.5MB) for about 45 minutes now. Any ideas? It is on an ethernet connection.

First start "Activity Monitor" and check CPU usage and Disk Activity to see if anything is going on at all.

"Ethernet connection" doesn't mean much. I suppose your computer isn't connected to the backup drive via Ethernet, so what is connected to what?

When a Time Machine backup from computer to directly connected hard drive fails, it is often because either the hard drive in the computer or the hard drive in the backup drive is on its way out.
