I use a 1TB Western Digital My Passport external hard drive as my main Time Machine backup disk. A few weeks back I decided to partition it in order to use some space to store a few files but yesterday I decided to erase that partition and let it being just one partition (the full disk capacity, 1TB) for Time Machine backups. The thing is that after using Disk Utility to do so, whenever I try to eject it it always tells me that the disk have a partition and ask me if I want to eject just the TM partition of both. Why is that? Why does it says that there's a partition when it's clear there is no partition? is this normal?

You will need to merge the partitions:

Then they will show as a single TM partition in DU.

But I can't merge them because there is no actual partition! It's just one thing so there's actually nothing I can grab and merge, that's why I'm so puzzled as why it ask me if I want to eject one or all the 'partitions'.
