So... here is the deal. I have a 500 gig external. 150 for storage and 350 for time machine. A week ago I had my MBP stolen. I got a new MBP and restored it using time machine. However, when I go to backup now, it recognises this as a different computer and needs to do a whole new backup which is like 95 gigs. My old backups are taking like 265 gigs and it WILL NOT let me delete those old backups and clear the space on that disk! I dont want to re-format because then I will have to back up all the other stuff not on time machine. So basically... how can I delete those old backups?

I tried deleting all the backup files in finder but it still shows 265 gigs being used.
