Greetings everyone. My iMac HD recently failed. I got a hold of a new one, installed leopard on it. After the "Welcome" animation finished a choice I was given was to restore using Time Machine. I chose this, it found my backup on the external drive (usb) and began to run.

At first it said it would take several hours but about every 15 minutes when i went back to check the total got larger and larger. Before i went to bed the bar had barely moved and it said 19 hours, I let it sit all night and in the morning it was still at the same progress and time remaining. Is this normal? Do I let it sit for the full 19 or do you recommend another approach to restoring the back up?

Perhaps I should get my iMac up and running, run OS updates then run the restore? I'm worried the backup has some how failed.

Thanks.

Could this be a USB issue? I am using a WD "Book" style external drive for PC and Mac. I am looking for conflicts or reasons for the 19 hours. Maybe the damn thing just froze up?
