Hi,

I did a fresh reinstall of Yosemite on my iMac, and now I want to selectively restore folders from my TM backup. When I try to view the folders in TM, some can be viewed while others cannot. In particular, my old Desktop, Downloads, Movies folders, etc could not be opened to restore selected files.

Is that normal behaviour?

Ever since upgrading to Yosemite, I've had to navigate directly from the Macintosh HD directory in order to access anything in Time Machine. This is a known bug that many are experiencing.

Try scrolling back to the date you want to recover files from and then drill down to your desired files in the TM Finder from the Macintosh HD folder (Macintosh HD->Users-><Your User Folder> etc) and see if that works for you.
