Hello, I'm new to the forums and wanted to know if anyone could help me with my Mac time machine restore. I have the iMac late 2007 17" running os x 10.7.5. The problem I have is when I'm trying to restore my Mac from a time machine backup, it shows 120+ hours left and please tell me if this is normal or what I need to do. I tried to restart the restore but it still showed 120+ hours. I should also state that the backup is only 20GB large.

Is it via a USB 2.0 HDD or other interface?

And what about just reinstalling Mac OS X first and then using the Migration Assistant to restore from a Time Machine backup?

The external drive is a 500GB usb 3.0 and I reinstalled lion as well before I did the restore
