Hey guys! So I know Lion Server comes with a Time Machine server, allowing client Macs to backup to it over the local network. With that in mind, is it possible to backup to that same server through iCloud? I can remote-connect to my server with Back to my Mac through iCloud, so why couldn't Time Machine use iCloud to get to my server as well? Thanks, and any help is always appreciated!

Sorry to revive this, but I thought I'd post my solution. With Lion Server, when you enable the Time Machine server, the client Mac shows two available network backup disks. If you hover over each, one shows the local IP of the network mac, while the other shows the iCloud address. For the purposes of this test I went with the later choice.

I gave it a try, and while it works, it's also super slow. Sometimes it takes forever to even find my server through iCloud. Not a very ideal solution for backing up possibly GB's of data each day.

Yes, backing up large amounts of data through an internet connection would be extremely slow.

You Mac will "queue" the backup data until the next you are at home and then dump it all to Time Machine. So there's really no need to even worry about such a set up.
