Hi guys,

I currently have a NAS setup running Debian with a RAID 5 setup on /mnt/Storage.

I've created a folder in /mnt/Storage/TimeMachine and have used Avahi and Netatalk to make this available to my laptop for backups to the NAS. Normal backups work completely fine.

However, I was wondering if I wanted to encrypt my backups would this be okay? Would it just encrypt the backup files, or would try to encrypt the whole 'disk' as it sees it?

Thanks.

Depends. Is this NAS on you home network or in a business environment? I ask because encryption can take a long time backing up. Plus I pray your network is using the quickest network speed (CAT 6 cable and Gigabit switches).
