Rocketing through the sky!
I am about to sell my Macbook Pro to my uncle and am gonna sit on the cash for a while until the iMac's get a refresh at which time I will probably snatch one of those.

So I have time machine all set up and have been using it for a while now. Can I just use that backup, the one made on my MBP on my iMac when I buy one? Or should I just backup all my music/pics/vids/docs/etc as files and then transfer them over later?

The Time Machine solution would be neat and tidy but I just don't know if I can use a laptop backup on a desktop machine.

I've just been wondering the exact same thing. I want to use my Powermac G5's time machine backup on my Powerbook when I reinstall Leopard. I'll just try it out though and see how it goes. I'll write a quick note on what happens with it later today.

Oops, nevermind. I won't post here, I didn't realize this was a year old thread. Anyhow, if anyone stumbles across this, it does work.
