It looks like the m1 pro is not capable of outputting 5k @ 120hz, looks like I may have to finally bite the bullet.. anyone else? I would have settled for a 120hz 4k display with retina PPI but those are impossible to find.

Just stay on 60Hz and save $5000
I’ve been using an external monitor for few years now but everytime I switch back to the laptop I get angry how crisp it is. Mac OS doesn’t play well with externals. In addition I made the mistake of using someone’s iMac 5k and the text was crispy. I actually purchased it soon after but didn’t like the refresh rate so I returned it and have been waiting for the 120 Studio Display but they moved it to the pro for more than double the price.

u can get now the last gen studio display for 30% off in the refurb store (at least in the EU, 1309€) which works perfect with any MB.
We have that at home with a M1 13“&16“.

Just for 120Hz to buy a new MB and even more expensive xdr display? Imho not worth it. If u have a company, different story.
