So, I've been considering for a while upgrading my iPhone 6 128gb, I am wanting to go with a bigger screen and hopefully better battery life, each update makes my iPhone slower and slower even after reformat, I think it's time to move up.
Is it worth upgrading now to the newer model? I'm eyeing at the 7 plus. I am also not sure if there are any trade in deals since I am not stuck in a contract with att.

The 7+ would be a huge leap over your iPhone 6. It has a strong battery, it's much faster than the iPhone 6, and overall with the 1080 P display and stereo speakers, dual camera, it's worth the purchase. The Larger size takes adjusting, but overall it's my favorite iPhone to date.

I am not sure if I am going to get any value by trading in the current iPhones to get the new ones, usually att offered like $650 credit when new iPhones get released right? I am not sure if it's worth waiting, but the slowness is getting annoying since it's been a while since my last upgrade...

Verizon had something similar to a trade-in credit when the iPhone 7 launched. I can't speak for AT&T and any promotions they offer. But, usually the promotion starts before and shortly after the iPhone launches.

I have a 6+. I am waiting for the anniversary editions to release in the fall. If you don't want to wait for the new phones, a 7+ is great and worth it. But you may also have the option to wait for a good deal on one. WWDC is coming soon where new iPhone info is announced and prices can sometimes go down during and after the conference. Plus you see other bonuses starting to get bundled as they try to shift out old stock.

The 7 also has the option of 256GB so that's a bonus as well; though the starting prices are also higher than when then 6/6+ released.

In the middle of several books.
If you need a new phone now, the iPhone 7 plus is an excellent phone, in my opinion. I have been very pleased with mine thus far. If you don't need a new phone right now, it might behoove you to wait until the new phones are released. If you don't like the new offerings, you should be able to get excellent deals on the iPhone 7 plus.

If you really want a bigger screen the 7+ is the only real option unless you want to save money and buy the 6S+ which is also a good phone spec wise.

For me personally they are both far too big for everyday use so I'd never consider them but for your needs I think you know the answer. You could wait another 6 months but there's always a new phone around the corner and I doubt the next iPhone will be a huge leap over the 7+.

As a recent iPhone 7 Plus convert, I highly recommend it.

But rather than trading in, where you'll end up getting a low amount, pop it up on eBay or Swappa - you'll get more back to put towards the 7 Plus.

Even with the eBay fees and PayPal fees?

It depends on the trade in deal that is being offered. For instance, at the iPhone 7 launch, you could have gotten $650 TIV for your iPhone 6. Now you can only get market TIV.

Market TIV through Apple is about $160. I am not sure what it is through the carriers, you would have to check with your carrier.

Here is the swappa link so you can get an idea how much you could sell it for:
