If you have a TimeCapsule that is currently backing up one MBP using TimeMachine, can you attach an external USB drive and then have a second MBP backup to that drive with TimeMachine?

Yes! it will work. I did that myself... What i did is, I formatted a 500GB external HDD on my MBP to (Mac OS Extended) and then connect it to Time Capsule and point Time Machine to that drive and it's working fine. I did that simply because i dont want to fill up a $500 Time Capsule... i think i'll use it for something better than that. Thanks to Skorpien!!!
