Hi all,

I have just been given a time capsule from my university for backup. My iMac currently connects to the network through an ethernet cable and I have to manually specify all the settings such as IP address and DNS servers etc. My question is this, can I setup the time capsule so that the ethernet cable goes into the time capsule and then I use a second cable to connect it to my iMac (rather than wireless as I generate a lot of large files)? Then would it be possible to set it so that I can still SSH directly into the machine from outside the university network using my current IP address (i.e. forward the port from the time capsule to the mac)?

Does anyone know if this is possible?

You should be able to configure the TC in bridge mode to it will just pass through the IP with no NAT.

This is what you want in Airport Util.

Great - thanks! It hasn't actually arrived yet, I was just trying to figure everything out before it got here :)

Cheers!
