Nice one ! Maybe a bit long in the end when there are fewer aircraft landing a taking off in the distance. You might shorten it by 5 or 10 seconds ?

I did a test with handheld time lapse photo in the subway a while back, editing together different FPS versions. I should probably get back into it, it could be fun if I get enough footage to cut down.

Then there was a tripod time lapse I did a couple months back, wanted to have fun with the color.

Awesome..

To the OP- Great work! One thing might be a cool effect. If you slowed down the part with the fireworks, like pick a few that really stand out and leave them on screen for a few extra seconds. It might give a cool dramatic effect. Just my 2 cents. Everything in that video was phenomenal!

Shutter Cycles

Are there any concerns regarding the shutter cycles on the camera(s) used to create the various timelapse videos people have posted?

The OP mentions in his video description that he used close to 30,000 photos to create it. That's roughly 1/3rd of the rated shutter cycles on most of the entry to mid level DSLR cameras produced present day.

^^ I did take close to 30,000 images indeed, and yes that is a concern with regards to shutter length of life. I found my Olympus cameras to be quite reliable.

Thanks for the comments - that would have been a good idea actually. But I would have to do that while I was shooting the actual scene - would have to do a realtime video ;) Next time maybe!

I think he means to do the pause in the video editor.

Great topic!

I tried something with timelaps and tilt-shift. It's a Dutch landscape from the city Nijmegen.

Nice.

Did you do the tilt-shift with a lens or in software? What did you use.

Thanks!

Pictures are taken with a Canon 500D on top of a chruch. A lot of wind so that's why it's a bit shakey.

I used a 18-55 standard lens and edited the pictures afterwards in Photoshop using macro's and batches. For local blur I used a quickmask and a preset fill for every composition/session.

Thank you for the info. I think it a good idea if people mention this in there posts.

Its tough when your platform moves. If you want to see shake, look at seenew's Manhattanhenge or the second scene in my Vancouver BC Timelapse 2011. Both were taken from bridges. His appears to be a pedestrian one while mine was the trans Canada highway. :D The contrast in frequency is interesting. Manhattanhenge has an interesting warping effect.

Such amazing work from everyone here on this thread! Very inspiring.

Here are a couple of videos I did, but nowhere close to being as good as anyone else's here; still very new to time-lapse and no DSLR at the moment, so these were all done with my iPhone (including the editing.)

This first one I was going for the old silent film, Nosferatu-type atmosphere. 720 still photos shot once every 5 seconds for exactly 60 minutes, played back at 15 fps (next time I will try 30 fps for a smoother video.) - http://youtu.be/Gi6p5Eaq9Iw?hd=1

And one of a subway station in Pasadena - http://youtu.be/r2hgdh90pIw?hd=1

Both are short.
