Puma kexts:
No ATI extensions shown in System Profiler, perhaps these are a little too old to work.

Still no video on DVD playback, but I'm sticking with Jaguar drivers

Similar results. I made five test: Leo Pure, Puma (no kext loaded), Jaguar, Tiger mixed with Jaguar (give permison error and repaired but tested) and Jaguar reinstaled again, giving the latest jaguar reinstall the better results (?)

Even puma kext have better performance than Leo stock. Between Stock, Puma and Jaguar, I will stay on Jaguar kexts.

I think i will pass trying tiger kext on leo.

Also I am thinking on give Jaguar kext to my panther and tiger installs. They should improve performance there too.

This finding should go to the f.a.q.

Universal kext installer from ifrit05. We should try them instead of manual method. I will explain how I did before the scripts from ifrit05 appear.

Before, when I swapped kext I opened terminal
sudo -s
Put my password and then dropped the kexts, bundle, plugs over the S/L/E folder, autenticate and the again in terminal
chown -R root:wheel /System/Library/Extensions/ATIRage*.*
I waited to the Activity Monitor to stop activity and in terminal
rm -rf /System/Library/Extensions.mkext
waited to the Activity Monitor to stop activity (longer than before to finish) and in terminal
reboot
The first time I tried the rm -rf.. /reboot Terminal did not finish and before rebooting it told me on a window that was updating boot caches before rebooting.

I tried the kext in the order I posted but never was really benchmarking Tiger Pure kexts, only what Mac OS let me after Jaguar kext instaled with my method. I finished making the kext thing from another system (Tiger) the corrects kext on Leo, dropping in terminal the folders of the Leo S/L/E for the correct paths from tiger and It did not give me error of anything.

I hope the new scripts would make life easier...

I beg @LightBulbFun to take time to read this. Jaguar kext gave the fastest UI in tiger.
