I'm with you, although I paid $2700 for mine. In the first 3 months, I babied it like you wouldn't believe.

18 months later, I close and open without thinking twice if it gets dusty or not. Everyday I take risks moving my cup of hot coffee over the keyboards ~ will I spill it today? Hmm... let's find out!

And I throw it on my bed from several feet away, because I'm too lazy to take the last extra steps to put it down gently enough.

I am a ruthless person when it comes to taking care of my things.

Here's to the Crazy Ones

LOL. Your post helps me add some more points:

  1. Keep liquids away from your notebook.
  2. Don't throw your notebook!
  3. Try not to be ruthless. :)

Calyxman:

Looked up your fine work on the 600mhz iBook. Nice. Still running?

Would add that it just makes sense about the hinges -- to treat 'em gingerly.

iSkins are a must for me with my laptops. Totally saved my PB from coffee one day.

I need to get one for my 12" ibook now, it feels weird to type without it for me.

I'm shaking my head in amazement as a lot of you are missing my main point about opening and closing your notebook too much.

Anywho...

I have a dodgy hinge that cracks everytime (almost, not when it's cold) I move it. I tend to avoid moving it if I don't need to.

The next laptop I get, I'll be opening and closing it all the time just to feel what it's like to have a hinge that works properly. ;)

It's not anything new, but thanks none the less. ;)

Hehehe, I understood your point, I'm just messing around. Since I started it, I'll finish it. Sorry!
