But since almost everything you do on a computer is going to be bottlenecked by data access from the drive, it will give the appearance of increasing the overall speed significantly.

The computer will appear alot more snappy with a SSD. Programs will launch faster, the computer will boot and shutdown faster.. one of the best upgrades you can do to any computer.

An SSD kept my 6-year-old Mac Mini out of the landfill. :)

bought the memory 16 GB

I need to do some research to know which SSD to buy... I have a 750 GB HDD, but I don't use more than like 100 GB lol

Then don't buy a 750GB SSD. SSD's are expensive. You should probably go with 256. 16GB RAM is also probably overkill for you, but you bought it already.

why? I use a lot of programs/video games that use a lot of memory haha

I just ordered a Samsung 840 EVO 500GB for myself. I have roughly 300-350GB in files on my current HD so went with the larger size. I will do some housekeeping before migrating the data so should have plenty of space.

I would recommend the 256GB in your case. The EVO is pretty reasonable at $170 - $180.

Thank you!!! Looks pretty scary haha... This is going to be an adventure for me!:p

Don't be intimidated. It is really straight forward. Now with the Disk Recovery Assistant and a Thumb drive it makes it even easier to boot and install OSX on the new drive.

iFixit.com has some really good step by step guides as well.

I do wish Apple made it easier to get to the drive and memory without taking the whole bottom off, but it isn't that involved. Just make sure you have the screws saved right and remember where the longer and shorter screws go. I use lil glad plastic containers to keep em separated.

Extremely easy! You can thank Apple's unibody design. It makes repairs efficient and easy for the tech guys, as well us as tech-noob guys.

I almost forgot... How would I install Mountain Lion on it after considering I downloaded it from Apple online not an actual CD & I think my boot DVD don't work anymore...

Boot to your recovery partition (hook it up via a USB to sata adapter) and then sign into your Apple ID account and as long as you purchased Mountain Lion via the App Store, it will download and install.

Thanks but I have no idea what the first half of that sentence meant haha...

When you put your new SSD into the system, take your old hard drive, hook it up to a USB adapter, and plug it into the system.

Boot the system, and when you hear the chime, hold down the Option key.

You will see an option for Recovery Partition ;)
