Oh well so here it goes, as I mentioned here once before, brought my iPhone 3GS in after restoring my 3.1.2 JB and the tech that worked on it while trying to fix it installed 3.1.3 so now I no longer can JB it and I know that is not what fixed my problem, however I spent 2+ hours arguing with Apple that I did not want the 3.1.3 Firmware. Their policy is to update your phone to the latest Firmware when they repair it so now I can not JB my phone. I am guessing the future of Apple is to do everything in their effort to prevent JB iPhones however I just hope with their next major OS they allow us to customize our phones a little more, if not I may switch over to a Android based phone.

The only thing that bothers me with the Android based Google phones is I must have a GMail account in order to use their Market, also that it syncs only with GMail calendar and Contacts, however everyone I know seems to be happy, so we will see what comes out of WWDC in June.

Ok? Dont worry im sure the latest firmware will be cracked soon, dont blame the apple tech they didnt do anything wrong, doing a software update probably just occurred as they were working on it.

Sadly, if 4.0 doesnt fix everything, I too may be an Android user by 2011.

I think it's perfectly reasonable that if Apple has to work on your phone they update it to the latest firmware.

    At the iPhone hacks section.
Apple techs will not go out of their way to preserve your jailbreak or baseband status. You should have known that could happen when you bring it in for repair.

Did you know you can jailbreak 3.1.3 now? Read up in this forum if I understand it correctly.

EDIT: I don't think it works if you already updated. You have to use pwnage to make a custom firmware first, then update to 3.1.3 using that. Sorry.

The real question is, why didn't you have your ECID SHSHs on file with Saurik?

I managed a phone store for two years and upgrading software to the latest available is standard practice with any repair company. It makes sense. They are trying to fix the phone so that it runs as it should according to factory settings. Not customized via Jailbreak.

They did nothing wrong here and you really have no leg to stand on in an argument with them.

Just wait for the 3.1.3 Jailbreak...

And as for threatening to do away with the iPhone in favour of an Android based phone, I don't think Apple will mind. Hell, if they did, they wouldn't be trying to stop people from Jailbreaking their product in the first place.

Agreed. You have no legs for standing purposes here. You brought it in to be repaired. They repaired it. You are sure that the upgrade didn't do the fix, but how can they know that? They need to be sure to exclude the issues fixed in that upgrade.
