Apple SHOULD be adding TOUCH AND Face ID if they want to play this game.

Last chance is to move to a state that smacked down mask mandates.

Alternatively, leave it turned on, but change "Require Password Immediately" to an appropriate time.
How would one do that? On my iPhone7 iOS 14.4, going into the option to change this only shows the “Immediately” option selected and tapping it does nothing. How to change this?
Apparently, that option is only relevant for Touch ID.

The following does seem to be the only current alternative for the OP:
Maybe turn off FaceID and unlock code?
It will require sacrificing some security and Apple Pay. But maybe that’s an okay trade off for the OP.

I must say at first I thought it would annoy me but it literally takes seconds to enter the passcode. I’m fortunate I’m not wearing a mask all day every day right now but to me it’s not too much of an inconvenience to enter the passcode whist in the supermarket for example.

I have an iPhone 8 so I just assumed that it worked the same with Face ID, especially since the screenshot on the previous page shows the "Require Password" menu.
Just to confirm, I wasn't criticizing rather pointing it out. It does seem strange Apple has not hidden the menu option on Face ID devices.

It seriously does not take that long to put in your passcode. Not even 2 seconds. There are bigger things to be worried about. This is very minor. I’ve been doing it for a year and it’s really not all that bad.

I'm set to use a 4 digit pin.. on the occasions Face ID doesnt work its not a big deal to type in but at the same time its secure enough in the vast majority of cases...where its potentially not secure enough i doubt i'm that interesting enough for the relevant authorities etc to be bothered in me!!

Your mask isn’t protecting you against infection.
I agree but if you are like me and pull a mask down to unlock, it is a bit riskier because you’re touching hands to face. I’m ok with it but in regards to what the person you replied to said, keeping your hands off your face while out in public does provide more protection.

I’m sure it’ll come but companies aren’t or shouldn't be making long term decisions based on temporary measures.
