Ok I’ve been a pretty big fan of the aw5 especially the titanium model but I found unlike my stainless Steele aw3, there’s tons of micro scratches on the screen. I never experienced this with my s3. I have one scratch on the sw3. But on the s5 titanium there’s multiple mini scratches on the screen. I’m pretty baffled and I haven’t been rough with the titanium watch. Such wearing it while gardening.

I saw some micro scratches on my ceramic watch too. I didn't have any on the AW3 SS. I remember hitting something hard and ending up with the micro-scratches. Mine, I can't see unless in direct sunlight at an angle so 99% of the time its invisible. I chalk it up to just luck...

was yours on the screen too? i've put a plastic protector from bestskinsever, the invisible shield style to protect against such incidents..

fortunately it saved me from a deep scratch when the edge of a metal door grille cut into my watch face, and i just had to replace my plastic skin.. Maybe can consider that in future?

Really? do you mean on the screen or case? If you mean on the case it is the first time I hear that since ceramic should be very resistant to scratches...

Apple's version of sapphire crystal is more prone to scratch, because it's not as pure as the industry standard. I believe this choice is to make the crystal easier to shape for the Apple Watch.

I habe read you claim this a number of times already. Is there any proof for this beyond that one notorious youtube video? Because his methodology was flawed and has been refuted.

In any case the overwhelming practical experience of many, many users on this forum (and others) is that the Sapphire screen of the Stainless (and Edition) Watches is very hard to scratch and in most cases remains flawless for years and years.

The sapphire glass is very scratch resistant, but it's certainly not impervious to damage. It can scratch if it comes in contact with the right materials, including rough abrasions with sand and other fine particulates.

The watchface is exposed to the elements 24/7, unlike most phones, so minor blemishes may eventually happen.

Just out of curiosity: how his methodology has been refuted ?
Because I think he is not really such an expert as he pretends to be

There have been multiple other tests that confirmed it is „real“ sapphire glass, for example by Consumer Reports.

But yes, if you use a hard enough „opponent“, you can scratch even a sapphire glass screen. It‘s just much less likely to happen than with ionX glass.

My stainless steel space black sapphire screen has scratches too, unlike my S0 which was perfect for 4 years. I'm learning to live with it. You generally can't see them.

I have no scratches on my SS S4 and I’ve had it for over a year and don’t look after it at all.

any pictures in the light to show?

This is probably most logical question, I don’t understand why some members start a thread to discuss issues/defects with a watch, but then they don’t post any pictures for others to see specifically what they’re referring to, and/or, offer feedback based off the photos.

@1rottenapple I’m not saying I don’t believe you, but the sapphire is pretty difficult to scratch (Perhaps it’s the Oleophobic coating), But enlighten with us with photos to better see what you’re indicating.

Could be the coating but just weird that my series 3 stainless steel did not have this and I was rough with that. The titanium cost me close to $1000 so I am cognizant in taking better care of it then my $200 used series 3 stainless steel.

Those surface scratches look superficial on the Oleophobic coating. They’ll probably dissipate the more you use the watch, once the coating wears off, as it’s naturally organic.

Is that a genuine SB Milanese Loop? I’ve read posts that warned people with that particular loop not to let it come in contact with the watch because the DLC coating could scratch the watch. Judging by the look of your scratches, that may have happened.

It’s either the coating that scratched or the dlc band which is harder then sapphire scratching it.

Yes it’s genuine. I bought it along with Apple. Do people here need me to show proof? Pic?
