title problems with iMovie

I did a quick search for this problem but i didn't turn up much (maybe my search wasn't very well directed, though!)

I think iMovie is a very strong editing software, it totally does the trick for most basic stuff. BUT I NEVER have luck when I try to use titles!

It lets me choose a type of title, it lets me preview it... but not apply the title to my piece. I end up making my titles in Photoshop, saving the titles as stills, import that still into iPhoto, then bring it into iMovie. That works pretty well, but I would REALLY like to get the titles working in iMovie.

Is this a problem other people run into with iMovie? Any plugin fixes, that sort of thing?

Are you trying to put the titles over video, or just over black? If you want them over video you have to un-check the "Over-Black" box somewhere in the title pane, otherwise you should leave it checked, else iMovie will look for a clip to put it on top of.
 
I have the same problem

I cannot add titles to my movies.

Well I should clarify, I was able to add one in the beginning of the movie when I started my project. Now the titles effects are all but dead features. None of it works. I followed the exact iMovie instructions but there is obviously a bug preventing it from working. Basically, the 'Preview' button works all nice and all, but the 'Update' button is totally grayed out. I've tried almost everything but i cannot get iMovie to add Titles to my clips.
 
The only problem I have is that in a widescreen PAL DV, the titles don't always show up as previewed.

The biggest potential problem is not realising that dragging the text over doesn't import the title. You have to drag the little 'T' next to the type of title over to the timeline rather than the text that you've entered or the preview.
 
I have a weird problem in iMovie. When making my movie, I have an intro title then the subject title then my movie, etc.
When I playback, the subject title repeats itself 3 times though I only put one box in the sequence. I have started with a clean project but it continues to do this. It's driving me nuts! Here is a link for one video that has the problem. It's screen after "Hi Friends!" ... any help would be greatly appreciated!

I know this is an old problem, but I experienced it recently and it drove me nuts. It's the size of the font in your title causing the hop. Adjust the size and it will quit "reorienting" and hopping based on how much space is available.
