Hi I just jailbreaked via redsn0w 0.9.5beta and unlocked with ultrasn0w. Just to test, I had an old "brand new never used" SIM card lying around and stuck in the phone. After it did the searching, the iPhone screen showed "iPhone is activated" and showed the T-Mobile carrier name.

I was testing 411 Google expecting it wouldn't connect. I heard dial tones, before I hit disconnect.

Does this mean the TMO sim is active? Shouldn't it be no service since I haven't had service with TMO in over 3 years?

I don't want to inadvertently activate a TMO account. Just slightly paranoid and feeling stupid.

Not sure whats up with that particular simcard.
The iphone will not activate an inactive tmobile sim and start service automatically just by sticking it in.
