Anyone notice that tmobile seems to be filtering out and blocking $5.99 and $9.99 data plans for iphones?

Seems to have just started yesterday. unfortunately, i think they've wised up to it.

All you gotta do is tell them that you dont have an iPhone! Once they know you have an Iphone, they will force you to get the $20 data plan.

I told them I have a crappy Nokia 3500 and need the $9.99 web2go plan.

Only works once. They will just flag your account and on the next pass when they see the iphone IMEP number you will get slapped with it again and this time it will be harder to remove.

And yes they know exactly what phone you are using as soon as the IMEP number comes up.

It's no longer going to work, they are systematically searching out iPhone users and blocking the necessary ports. They just upgraded their towers on Tuesday. They are actually requiring you to purchase a $24.99 plan.

Is anyone with these plans still getting data with their iPhone?

Man, I'd be thrilled if I could get internet with the $20 plan. I would have to get the $30 one. So I just said forget it. I shouldn't be paying more for the internet on my phone, than at my home.

I have the $5.99 T-Zones web. Last time I called T-Mobile I asked the representative if I would be forced to upgrade to the new $9.99 Web2Go service and I was told no, that I will be "grandfathered" and not have to worry.

    I <3 T-Mobile. :)

well, it appears to be back up for myself...using internet2.voicestream.com on the $9.99 plan.

must have been a couple day glitch/downtime maintenance issue.

i've found lots of helpful info at this site http://modmyi.com/forums/t-mobile/

That would be a bummer if they shot themselves in the foot that way.

I'm willing to pay $5.99 *3 for internet on our three iPhones. I'm not willing to pay $20-something *3, so their income from me would drop (a little).

I'm still ticked off over the $1.50 paper bill fee but I'll get over it.

I just had the $10 plan added to my mother's account after she got an iPhone. Of course the phone is unlocked as well, so I don't know if they can tell.

Every GSM handset ever produced anywhere in the world has its own unique IMEI. Think of it like a serial number or a fingerprint. The cellular carrier can read the IMEI of any phone connected to its network. The first 8 digits of an IMEI identifies the manufacturer and model of the phone.

Unlocking, in itself, doesn't change the phone's IMEI, however there are other hacks that can be applied to modify the IMEI too. (Modifying an IMEI is illegal in some parts of the world.)
