Tn3270 - Unable To Open Connection To Host

I've installed TN3270 X for MAC (brown university)
I think I've followed all the instructions strictly but when I try to open the connection it says UNABLE TO OPEN CONNECTION TO <hostname> - timeout

What could the problem be? Can anyone help?
