Does everyone use the default camera application?
How are you guys doing manual focus? (background is blurred)
It's a hair below a good point and shoot. One more generation and it should be great. it's passable in a pinch outdoors now, but I wouldn't give up carrying a real camera.
They haven't always done that... The first 3 iPhones couldn't even shoot video.
Just tap on the part of the image you want to be in focus before you take the picture.
Taken today with the 4s, baby![]()
That flower pic is very good! There's even a nice bokeh in the background (all things considered). Cool!
I wouldn't call that bokeh nice....but perhaps all things being considered meaning it's a cell phone camera, perhaps. Overall though, the bokeh is quite poor. Here's an illustration showing from poor to ideal (creamy) bokeh. The 4s is even worse than the bad shown here too. It produces hollow blur points. Glazed Donuts really.
Don't get me wrong, I love my 4s and I'll use the hell out of the camera, especially over what I did with my 3Gs, but in situations where there's 4s Bokeh, I'll have to post process it to be satisfied. Easy enough but still.
Wow, awesome luck!
That's some serious critique of what is and always will be a cell phone camera. You want creamy bokeh? Buy a DSLR and a nice lens.
The OP's pic is stunning considering it came from a 4S. Better than many point and shoot POS I've seen as of late.
