Was at the store last night, and got AppleCare+ for my Sport. The girl was totally surprised, seemed like this was the first watch she seen in the wild. Furthermore, they checked no functionality (like they do for the iPhone when you come in a purchase AppleCare+ after you already got the phone) - simply read the serial from the back swiped my card, done. Also she was amused when the email notification for the receipt lit up right away ;)

I almost never get apple care+ but did in this scenario. One other thing to note is that only apple care+ can do advance replacement which allows you to wear the current one until the other one ships out to you. Not a big deal, but something to note since I've already had to do this.

I don't understand the "on my wrist it will get broken" argument. I drop my iPhone way more than I'll ever damage something strapped to my wrist.

As far as bumping into things that's just par for the course with watches, but I've never broken one. Do you people work in brick factories?:p

I'm just lucky i guess... my arm is just at the height of door handles when i swing them, and the place i work has glass door handles. My poor g shock has gotten pounded on them over the 17yrs that I've worked here. if it weren't for the shielding around it, and the strong display I'm sure I would have gouged and destroyed the display on those things, but they are still going strong.

I just added the Apple Care. I've only had to use it a few times over all my Apple purchases, but I've never had an issue. I think I've only been charged once for a warranty issue also. It just gives me peace of mind, and I do take care of my electronics.

I plan to get an Apple Watch 2, so for me there is no reason to get Apple Care.

I *may* get it. I'm concerned about the product's robustness, both from a software and a hardware standpoint. As early adopters, we take the fall for every product as it inevitably has a higher defect rate at the beginning of manufacture.

I feel bad for airline launch customers who buy the first 20 aircraft or whatever. They're gonna get shafted in the long term maintenance of that product...same concept applies here, at a much smaller scale.

I digress, the point is I *may* get it because knowing me, I'll be lining up for AW2. It's just 69 bucks and for what it's worth makes selling it easier. Need to sleep on it.

So I ordered my watch on 4/10 and I didnt get apple care. I still dont have my watch but I was thinking about purchasing apple care. I currently dont have it on my watch, Iphone or new MacBook air. But it seems to me like a watch might be something i should get it for.

if you purchased apple care do you mind chiming is as to the PERSONAL reason why you got it? are you clumsy? Perhaps you have small kids. I just wanted to know.

Thanks

Over the last year I wore the Plastic Pebble and Fitbit Surge and neither have had any scratches or issues. The Surge has a Gorilla Glass screen so it's pretty safe.

I didn't get Applecare but I bought my Apple Watch with an AMEX and they double your warranty to up to the value of the watch. So if I have any issue or need to replace the watch/exchange the battery in the 2nd year AMEX will reimburse me. They also cover me for theft for 90 days. All this was enough peace of mind for me.

Credit Card's typically just extend the manufacturer's warranty. That doesn't cover accidental damage (at least Apple's doesn't).

So, you go for a swim, like the Aus guy that demo'd the waterproofness, discover your watch isn't quite as sealed as his is, and you're SOL (unless you have AppleCare).

Doubles your warranty and adds accidental damage coverage. A no brainer on a $700 watch to me.

In theory... Having have dealt with the AMEX protection department they only request a receipt and they reimburse you for your repair/replacement so unless you actually tell them that you broke the watch outside of the manufacturer's warranty they won't hound you for the reason why your watch was replaced/repaired.

So say I broke the watch accidentally and Apple charges me $300 to replace the watch. AMEX will just reimburse you with very few questions asked; if any... it's covered to the exact amount charged to the card.

Nice! Hmm. I'll have to do some digging - see what people's experiences are with RBC Visa. :)

I always by AppleCare for my iPhones, but for this I didn't. If I'm spending $600+ on a stainless steel and sapphire watch, and it can't stand up to normal day to day use, then it's not a very good watch.

Get it!

I would suggest getting AppleCare... Why? Because I've already had to use it.

My Apple watch stopped booting after the first night of charging. :(

The other perk with AppleCare that is often overlooked is that they will send you a replacement before you need to mail yours in. So instead of waiting for them to receive your broken watch they send you a replacement right away. Apple calls the the "Express Replacement Service" and it isn't available under the included 1-year warranty.

How valuable is it to have the watch in hand if it doesn't boot? :)

Just went and got Apple Care! Ive only had the watch for about 3 hours and i hit it on the table already..Its fine but yeah..

Just had my watch delivered today. Haven't turned it on yet. So does the AppleCare water damage?

The peace of mind alone is worth it.

I get AppleCare+ on all my portable electronics. Same with my Apple Watches (mine and my wife's -- both due in June :() :D

I get AppleCare on everything now. I didn't have it on my old 2008 iMac and when I had to get a new hard drive 18 months later, I had to fork the entire cost out of pocket. Never again. With the watch, I think it's even more important as accidental damage is even more likely. Not to mention this costs a bit more than other small gadgets and resale of a damaged watch won't be as high as a phone since doing a screen replacement won't be nearly as easy if at all possible.

I'm the other way around. I don't buy it for iPhones, but I did for this.
