Hi,

I've had a powerbook for about 2 years now and have never had a problem with it so far. My question, is it a good idea to format and re-install tiger? just to clear out the junk and make my laptop run faster.

Backing up the current data is no problem. i do a mirror backup of the laptop hdd onto an external hdd.

What are your thoughts?

The consensus seems to be that if it ain't broke, don't fix it. If you're not having any trouble with your computer, there's really no reason to do the blank slate thing.

The following thread addressed exactly your question, except that the OP *was* having sort of a glitchy computing experience and was hoping to clear it up.

Hope it helps.

If it isn't running slow, or having other problems I wouldn't worry with a re-install. My TiPB is still running on the original Tiger install from '05 and I haven't felt much of a slowdown or noticed any excess clutter.

and beaten to it once again!

are you talking about an OS upgrade or just re-install same version? if later, follow what has been said.
