Gave my iPad mini Retina to a family member in exchange for their first gen iPad mini which I later sold. I'm now waiting to get an Air 2 on sale since I have found there to be a gap between the smartphone (iPhone 6 Plus) and laptop (rMBP 15"). The mini is too small to be useful with the iPhone 6 Plus as an phone but the iPad Air would be perfect.

My Mini Retina... well, I haven't found a place for it yet. I haven't used it since I got my 6 Plus, It just kind of sits there. Hopefully I can find a way to use it soon.

Should have sold that sucker on eBay before the new iPads were announced, depending on condition you could have gotten top dollar.

Source: Sold my iPad mini retina on eBay a week before the iPad Air 2 announcement, only was 100 bucks short of what I paid retail for it.

I use my iPad as a biggish second monitor to use with my PC via TeamViewer, which is 100% free. No need to pay for iDisplay, AirDisplay, DuetDisplay, etc.

I use my rMini the same way I used it before the IP6+
Surfing, games, reading, spreadsheets and other office docs.

While the IP6+ makes surfing the net easier, I'm still limited because most sites use the mobile website. I'd rather avoid that, and not all websites give me the option to select the desktop version.

I'm happy to see excel is now available for my iPhone so I'll be using that iPad less for this, but still, its better to work on my spreadsheets on the tablet then the phone.

In the end, I find the iPhone is a tool that expands my productivity, and does not replace my other tools.

Safari can be made to load the desktop version, or you can browse with Opera with can be set to always browse the desktop versions.

Also, there's browser apps that let you view two websites at once, which is perfect for the large iPhone 6 Plus in landscape.

I was using my iPad all the time before the 6 Plus arrived. Now I just use an iPad Air 2 in my office as a display for our conferencing, chat software and exchange email. And it stays in the office. My iPhone 6 Plus is with me everywhere and used far more than I ever imagined.

I sold my retina Mini as soon as I got this 6+. I was hoping that developers would support the unique capabilities of the device with updated apps. However, after nearly all of my most-used apps having been optimized for it, almost NONE have ANY landscape mode whatsoever. That's infuriating.

Take the just updated Netflix. No landscape browsing of content before proceeding to watch it in landscape. I mean, wtf are developers thinking? Are they lazy?

My iPad 3's battery has been unloaded for almost 2 weeks now. I use it sometimes to read PDFs at school but I useually stick to my 6+ and MacBook air.

I still do the same things with my iPad but the iPhone 6 plus has lessened my time on the iPad as I can now easily respond to an email on my phone, read a book and have kept the iPad at home for some short term travel.

While video looks great on the 6 plus I'd rather look at it on the iPad if I have the option. Also certain games are also better with a larger screen. While the iPhone 6 plus has become more user friendly with its larger screen the iPad still beats it.

I'm surprised at some of the responses. There's still a sizeable difference in screen size between the iPad mini and 6 Plus.

I still use my iPad Air 2 and my iPad Mini 2 the same ways I always have -- except that occasionally now I will leave the Mini at home when going out somewhere and just have my iPhone 6 Plus with me, since I know I can read more easily on it than I ever could on my previous iPhones. There is still very much a place for all three devices in my household and life.

A tangible difference.

But that landscape function helped sell me on the 6 Plus. After multiple visits to the store, playing with the 6 then the Plus right next to it ...

Such a small thing helped fill in that last 5% of doubt lol.

The Plus is just big enough to let go of the Mini.

.

I still use my iPad Mini the same as I did before. One is a phone and the other is a tablet. Just because my phone gained an inch doesn't make my iPad Mini useless.

I am a huge fan of the iPad mini. It has kept me company on many, many flights and is my official e-reader. But I will admit my usage has went down since I got my 6 Plus. The Plus is surprisingly good for iBooks, OK for Safari. The key difference, of course, is the Plus is in my pocket while the mini needs a briefcase or murse.

Of course this might be just the newness factor of the 6 Plus. Not selling my rMini anytime soon!
