The Misty Mountains
Last night I was bummed because Fallout 4 was crashing on me. Then I remembered the night before, when I recruited a hooker for one of my settlements (Hookers of the Commonwealth Mod) and the game crashed at that point, but I seemed to be able to get past it until the next time I tried to load a save, last night.

I discovered that if I loaded a save prior to recruiting the Hooker (to be based at a settlement) the saves would load, but after that point, the game would crash on load. Of interest, this is a mod I’ve been using for several years with Fallout 4 and usually no problems and I have hookers stationed in many settlements. It keeps the settlers happy. :D

I ended up removing the mod. This game is old, the mod has not been updated in a while (no real reason to keep it up to date, mod author has probably moved on) and I don’t need the crashes for the ambiance/ eye candy the mod provides the game, and the settlers will stay happy enough. :)

So, do you use Mods in your games?

In many I do, but a word of warning if you are not familiar. When you add a mod to your game, especially in a building game, with components created by Mod authors, you are putting your game’s life in their hands, especially games that are continued to be developed. You have to feel that any mod author you entrust your game to, is reliable, dedicated, and keeps their mod up to date. This is key. Any game update can break mods and it’s especially important as I said when you are building bases with modded components.

In World of Tanks and World of Warships I use a wide selection of mods, and with every game update, as a rule, the mods need regular updating. Here, if a mod goes bad, it’s not as big a deal, because it’s easy to remove without worrying about game functionality.

Usually I pick mods that I think will kind of enhance the experience that's already there instead of adding a bunch of wacky stuff. Or I'll use them to push the game to utilize the hardware I have better. Like in Skyrim I have a bunch of mods for better looking textures for everything like water, fauna, trees, towns, NPCs, weapons, etc. But the game still plays like good ole Skyrim.

Good new! I resolved the issue with Fallout 4, it was not this mod, the hookers are back, and my happiness rates are trending back up. :D

The only game i've used mods with is fallout 4, and even then, i only have a minimum number. I found some to be too resource intensive for instance the settlements mod that overhauls the settlements brings my game playing down to a crawl.

Update: Issue is not resolved, crashing while launching saved games, fast travel crashes to desktop. Removing mods from game, trying to find a few I can keep. As I said in the Fallout 4 thread, this game maybe on it's last legs with mods that have been floating around for years.

I removed these tonight and no help with Fast Travel crashes. No I'm not going to run all over the Commonwealth. What is aggravating from day to day, sometimes it works and other times not. It's probably time to move on...
