Went to look at the nano texture again today. It’s very clear there is a layer of noise from the nano texture which is frustrating. Deal with this static noise on everything or reflections ?

I honestly wish it was a normal anti reflective coating like other monitors.

it was surprisingly bad on the original ASD and the 24" iMac, sounds like they didn't get it closer to the MBP nano

Unless you’re in an office with overhead lighting, or a window behind you in a super bright room, glossy is fine. Once it’s on, it’s fine.

Black screen yes, reflections. But who sits there with a black screen?

If you code you’re most likely staring at dark grey/black backgrounds constantly, so a lot of people sit there with black screens.

I much prefer the NT for office work, despite the shaper text of the glossy precisely because I find the reflections in day time to be incredibly distracting/eye strain inducing. In a dark room it doesn’t really matter.

Since the introduction of NT, I buy that option whenever I can. It makes a big difference if you have fluorescent lighting or you’re near a window. Have 2 XDRs with NT replacing my Pro Display XDR with NT (for sale in the Houston area BTW).

Reactions: the future
If it helps anyone, I bought the ASD, it arrived yesterday. Glossy.

I'm in a bedroom office at home, window to my right side (not behind me). No other windows or lights behind me.

I can indeed see reflections from the light which hits the door behind me. But, I have to look for them. Working normally, I haven't noticed it, but if I do focus, I can clearly see my door in my ASD refraction.

Basically, it's like an LG OLED TV reflection (when it's turned off). Once you're working, in normal home conditions, it's fine. The colour pop and sharpness is fantastic, makes me remember how good glossy is.
