Love my XR. But have shuttering when i wipe between homepages. Example: when i close an app and wipe fast between homepages i see shuttering. It bothers me a lot. I did everything, replaced my Xr but the shuttering still there. Is that a hardware issue ? A12 is not so smooth.. Why people say that the new iPhones are smooth!? On videos the animations look fluid but in in reality not. I have no fun withy my Xr :(
It's an issue with the latest iOS 12.2. It didn't exist prior to that for me so I assume it will be resolved in the next update. I notice it the most when opening new safari tabs

Assuming you mean stuttering: you aren't alone. There have been a number of threads on the subject, but here's the one that has drawn the most participants & attention: https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/iphone-xs-momentary-stuttering-after-inactivity.2141542/

Seems a lot of people are experiencing the problem. Fortunately it sounds like a fix might be coming soon. According to the folks in that thread, the latest iOS beta helps a lot.

I’m pretty happy overall

My eyes are appreciating lack of pwm

Battery life always good for being in no service areas on the metro / still on 12.0.1

I picked up a parents xs max and I still don’t want that much phone. I sometimes miss x size but not the 4.7” like scaling, the max scaling on xr suits me better

We’ll see what happens this year

The only thing I'm missing is the extra depth data in portrait mode pics. The workarounds to take portrait mode pics of non-humans need a lot of work.

Current 64gb iPhone X user here seriously considering switching to an xr for the following reasons but primarily for cost of personal feature requirements:

  • 128gb (more than 64gbs)
  • Long battery life
  • Single lens, wide angle portrait mode pics
  • Most future proof processor
  • Bigger and better camera sensor

My concerns:
  • Resale value
  • Might be too bulky like my previous plus iphone was
  • Might end up missing true 3D Touch experience(most likely won’t)

My personal use cases are:
  • Pics of family and products to sell online
  • Editing RAW photos
  • Editing video
  • Browsing and social media
  • YouTube sessions
[doublepost=1556241378][/doublepost]Only had it for a week but no regrets so far. Previously had a 7. The Xr camera is amazing. Battery life is great. It’s a little clunky but not bad.

Guess I’m paying for workflow optimization. I really don’t want to wait for iOS to decide on what should be kept locally and what I need to download especially when I’m mixing raw files with video files which are large files.

Are you needing to work with these files directly on the iPhone itself wherever you go (with or without LTE/Wi-Fi data connectivity) or are you just concerned of losing pictures? I think the early first page of this conversation could be and always has been a concern and thus why we now have 512GB storage on the XS/Max models.

i find XR screen warmer than my previous X with TT on..
im not sure if LCD behaves differently than OLED..

here is a comparison...

XS max --- XR(display set) --- XR(mine)

I’m not always connected to WiFi or have a strong data connection to download large files. Having access to them locally

This is interesting I did this comparison myself too. We have 2 XRs and both of them were warmer than any of the display models in multiple stores.

One thing to note here is that the display models have different serials they all start with 3D. Could it be these units have their LCDs tuned to cooler temp due to the lights in the apple stores?

I moved from the 6s to the XR. I’m still getting used to the increased bulk and I’ve had to make a few adjustments due to the loss of the headphone jack, but I’m thrilled with the improvement so far. I haven’t had a newer phone since the 5s as I bought a used 6 shortly after the 7 came out and when that one succumbed to death by misadventure I opted to get a 6s on the secondary market which I used for the past two years prior to getting the XR last week. My plan is to use this one for 3 plus years.

Got my XR shortly after launch, but I’m not loving it. My prior 8+ felt too big to me, and reception was always very glitchy. I thought the XR might be a good follow up for me, because it’s smaller than the 8+ and was cheaper than the XS.
It still just feels too big, somehow maybe even feels bulkier in hand than my 8+ did (perhaps because it’s all screen?). I’m planning on ditching it. I just purchased a refurb X on the Apple website, then will pay off the XR and try to sell it on Swappa. It works great technically, but I’ve learned that I definitely prefer smaller phones.

It is thicker and wider than the 8+ maybe that is why you are feeling it too big. The 8+ is a bit heavier, though.

I got an XR to upgrade from my SE, but returned it after one day. I played with it several times in the store over many months and never found it exciting, but I decided to buy one and try it out "just in case". At least now I have stopped popping into the Apple store.

I did something similar with the 6S when upgrading from the 5S, i.e. wasn't excited by it, but bought one anyway and returned it after a day.

I bought an SE as soon as it came out. I'm unable to move away from the 5 body because of the weight and grip. All the other phones feel like big & heavy soap bars. It's the weight that matters more to me than size, and watching Apple make devices heavier with time as they went from 6 to 8 was painful. And then the X was even heavier.

The XR for me is the perfect size IPhone with great camera and screen. The XR is Apples best selling iPhone to date.

It is the one that the Apple store pushes as being the best value, so that is not surprising. The question is how are sales doing in terms of overall numbers, not relative numbers between the models. That Apple decided to stop reporting iPhone sales is telling. So now we have to go by estimates from various analysts.

Not really, Considering many other tech companies don’t report their numbers either, I don’t see why Apple necessarily needs to be labeled because they don’t report their numbers anymore either. We all know iPhone sales, (Not to mention smart phone sales in general have declined), that’s not really much of an unknown factor. I Mean, Tim Cook already openly admitted China has had economic conditions/battery program affected the iPhone growth, and the smart phone market in general is saturated and has declined. I think trying to blame Apple because they don’t discuss their numbers anymore is disingenuous, when The CEO of Apple openly admitted other areas that directly have affected the iPhone. That’s why there will be restructuring coming this fall to the iPhone according to Cook.

I really wanted to like the Xr as I much prefer ios to Android. Unfortunately, the Xr's reception is pretty bad compared to my Galaxy S10e. At any given time there could be anywhere from a 5 to 12dbm difference in signal strength. This is significant. I decided to return the iphone and just stay with the Galaxy.

I have had my XR for 4 months and still love it. Very solid phone. Only thing is the speaker holes in the bottom fill up with dirt and stuff very fast.

I’ve never had this happen with any of the iPhones I owned. Not saying it can’t happen, but then again, But this falls into the users responsibility how they carry their iPhone, especially if it’s ‘dirt’.

I've had my XR almost since the launch, and it's become my favorite of the three iPhones (4S, 6s, XR) that I've owned, and I've enjoyed each one. The screen size is just right, as are the fonts on display zoom. Display colors are great, the camera, especially in low light, is awesome, and the price is fair. Regardless what comes out this fall and probably the next one, I intend to keep the XR for at least couple more years and then pass it along to a family member.

I’ve had mine for several months now, and I plan on holding onto it for quite some time. It has everything that I need a phone to have and then some.

It isn’t selling as many as the 6S did that’s for sure!

It may be the current ios version, my XR will just randomly drop my WiFi connection, at home AND work, now I thought this was because of the Intel modem, but my iPad Pro 9.7” ALSO randomly drops WiFi at home.. I did look into it and it’s not uncommon apparently.
Another famous iOS bug?

I’m still going to wait till next years models, I’ll either change my XR to the new XR if they keep it around, and it has an OLED screen, but firstly I’ll be checking out any XE that might be launched. I’ll be able to go back to leaving my phone in my pocket then. But the bigger screen is nice sometimes..

I can chime in:

Went 6S to Xr.

Pros:
- Camera is great
- Screen is better
- FaceID great
- Battery fantastic
- Gestures great
- Great speakers

Cons:
- It is just too big, especially when carrying it in my pocket or sitting at work.
- Heavy, thick
- Sometimes it is a but unresponsive to touch
- Not impressed with wifi-reception

Just for the office-side of my usage I am considering iPhone 7 or 8 these days just to see if Apple makes that 4,5" smaller Xr come fall.

Kind of considering switching back to an X but a 256gb version now that the prices have gone down purely for the portrait mode quality. Strange reason but I really do take a lot of pics with my iphone and the portrait mode on the XR is hit and miss and is more miss in my experience especially with the non-human objects.
